No More “Leo Has Not Won an Oscar” Jokes

In the midst of awards season, The Oscars this year was on Sunday February 28, 2016, and boy was it a night to remember!

One of the most talked about events that occurred during the Academy Awards was when actor, Leonardo DiCaprio was nominated and awarded Best Actor. He also received a standing ovation as he stood on stage.

After many nominations in the past years, DiCaprio has put an end to the on-going joke of non-stop nominations and no Oscar.

A new trend of jokes has surfaced social media: memes.

Here are a three popular memes I found on my Instagram feed:

Many memes are continuing to rise onto social media but those are just a few of the most popular ones. Congratulations to Leonardo DiCaprio on his first Oscar – and that is a wrap for award season!

No More Salmonella

Have you ever been worried about the consequences of eating raw cookie dough? Have no fear I have you covered with this EGG-less cookie dough recipe (+brownies). Let’s get started!

-1 box of brownie mix (I used Ghirardelli Triple Chocolate Brownie Mix or your favorite brownie mix!)

-2 tbsp water

-1/4 cup vegetable oil

-2 eggs

-3/4 cup of room temperature unsalted butter

-3/4 cup light brown sugar

-1/2 cup granulated white sugar

-3 tbsp of milk

-1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract

-1 1/2 cups all purpose flour

-1 1/2 cups chocolate chips

To assemble:

-Preheat oven to 325ºF

-Prepare baking pan (I used 11 x 8 glass pan) by spraying it with non-stick cooking spray

-Set aside

-Pour brownie mix and fudge pouch (the fudge pouch comes with the Ghirardelli Triple Chocolate Brownie Mix) in a medium bowlIMG_3944

-Mix in 2 tbsp of water, 2 eggs, and 1/4 cup of vegetable oil.

-Stir until well blended.

-Pour mixture into prepared pan

-Put the pan in the oven for about 40-45 minutes

-Now take a breather because here comes the cookie dough part!

-While you are waiting for your delicious brownies to bake, beat 3/4 cup unsalted butter, 3/4 cup light brown sugar, and 1/2 cup granulated white sugar until fluffy with a hand mixer or a stand mixerIMG_4011

-Pour 3 tbsp milk and 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract in and mix until completely mixed

-Pour 1 1/2 cups all purpose flour into mix until well combined

-Pour desired amount of chocolate chips in and fold

-When the brownies are done, make sure they are COMPLETELY cooled before you spread the cookie dough evenly onto the top of the brownies. IMG_4034IMG_4036

-When brownies are completely cooled, spread evenly and cut into desired sized squares!

Caution, these are heavenly. Consume wisely! (Stairway to heaven in the picture below basically.)

How to Make an Edible Rainbow for Dessert

Has anyone ever told you that it is healthy to “eat the rainbow?” Well, here is an alternative rainbow when you aren’t feeling the healthy lifestyle. We have three words for you: Fruity Pebbles Treats. Yeah, that’s right! Here is a little spin to your classic Rice Krispies Treats. The best part about this recipe is that it is a NO BAKE recipe!

-2 bags (10 oz each) of Jet Puffed Miniature Marshmallows

-6 tbsp of unsalted butter

-1 box of Fruity Pebbles Cereal (15 oz)

To assemble:

-Put 6 tbsp of butter in a small bowl and melt butter in microwave

-After butter is melted, set aside

-Pour one bag of of Jet Puffed Miniature Marshmallows and place in a large microwave safe bowl

-Place bowl in microwave for about 1 min and 10-20 seconds (watch as you microwave marshmallows because they tend to expand and rise!)

-Take bowl out and mix the marshmallows to create “fluff”

-Scoop the marshmallows into another large bowl and set aside

-Repeat with the second bag of marshmallows but after mixing scoop the second batch of “fluff” marshmallows into the same bowl as the first batch

-Take melted butter and pour it into the bowl of marshmallow “fluff”

IMG_3930-Mix the butter and the marshmallow “fluff” until completely mixed

-Open the Fruity Pebbles Cereal (or your desired cereal choice) and pour half of the bag into the bowl

-Mix the cereal into the the mixture

-Pour the rest of the bag into the bowl and mix until well mixed

-Set asideIMG_3931

-Prepare desired size pan (we used a 11 x 8 glass pan) by placing parchment paper over the pan so that the treats do not stick to the pan

-Scrape the mixture into pan and firmly press down with your palms to make sure the mixture is flat (note: wet your hands before you do this because the water causes your hands to not be as prone to the stickiness of the marshmallows as they would be when dry)

IMG_3952-Cut into squares (whatever size you desire)

-Serve! (or store up to two days at room temperature or freeze up to 6 weeks)

Now go call your mother and tell her how you are eating the rainbow!

Feel free to experiment like we did by drizzling/spreading melted chocolate on top and then sticking the treats in the refrigerator until the chocolate hardened!
