Churros meet Ice Cream

People are freaking out over the new Churro Cone creation by Dessert Club, ChikaLicious in New York City. The transformation of churro into a cone to hold soft serve ice cream is the newest invention to come to the world of ice cream.

The dessert bar has created a delicious churro cone that is sprinkled with cinnamon sugar which may cause your hands to be a little bit messy, but it is so worth the mess. This gives another meaning to the typical churro that usually is dipped into warm melted chocolate.

Instagrammers are posting the most drool-worthy pictures:

Located at 203 E. 10th St, New York, NY 10003, it’s hours are: Thursday-Sunday: 3pm to 10:45pm.

But…the Dessert Club, ChikaLicious, which sells the churro cones, is located across the street at 204 E. 10th Street, New York, NY 10003, open Monday-Saturday from 7am-midnight and Sunday from 7am-11pm. Yup, you read 7am right, just in case you want your early morning churro cone fix!

When Yelp Meets the Food Network Channel

How did no one think of creating a television program of angry Yelp reviewers before? The Food Network has announced the new show coming to its channel called 12 Hungry Yelpers.

The new program is going to take all of the crazy comments that some angry, hungry, satisfied, and many more other Yelp users have written on the site about restaurants to help the restaurants improve.

According the the Daily News, Monti Carlo the Master Chef finalist from season three will be the host of the series. The 12 Hungry Yelpers will be writers that do not have any culinary or restaurant expertise which will make it much more relatable to restaurant-goers. The show is said to premiere this fall.

On a personal note, although I have never written a Yelp review myself, I do use the website often. One of my close friends, did write a strongly worded review for a restaurant called Torchy’s Tacos on SMU Blvd…let’s just say she was very frustrated:

Would you vote for Nicole to be on 12 Hungry Yelpers?

Yelp is a website that is used by real customers to leave reviews about restaurants so that new customers can view the reviews prior to attending the restaurant and see if he or she would be interested in eating at the location.

The website has become well known for their hilarious comments left by upset customers on restaurants that did not satisfy their expectations.

Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory Comes to Life

A real life Chocolate Factory is in the works at Universal Orlando. In 1971, every child’s dream came true when Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory hit theaters and created a candy and sweets heaven for each imagination to view the movie.

Now, the Willy Wonka Chocolate Factory will be turned into a restaurant called Toothsome Chocolate Factory & Savory Feast Emporium and will be located on the Universal CityWalk in Florida.

Although the restaurant will only include decorations that recreate the feel of the movie such as the tubes that are featured on the outside of the factory in the movie.

Paste Magazine says that the restaurant will feature a large menu such “burgers, pastas, salads, crepes, and quiches,” but will specialize in milkshakes and ice cream sundaes. Customers will also be able to take some sweets home.

Universal gave www.slashfilm.com a preview of the desserts that will be on the menu and here are some photos:

Amp Up Your Ice Cream Experience

With Spring finally in session, and the temperature is slowly rising, ice cream season is coming. Are you looking for a new way to experience the way you order ice cream? Introducing the 10-week old ice cream shop: CoolMess, where you can make your own ice cream. That is right…make…your own…ice cream.IMG_2404.PNG

CoolMess offers customers the choice to either eat pre-made ice cream, or to create ice cream yourself while also ordering from the shop’s full meal menu.

Creating ice cream takes 3 steps:

  1. Choose a base: Vanilla or Chocolate
  2. Choose 3 mix-ins from the 33 options
  3. Enjoy!

You can be creative and create your own combination, or go for one of CoolMess’ recommended combinations. Each table comes with one mixer, and serves up to four people. The entire process takes about 10 minutes but with the music that blasts in the room, and a group of friends to chat with, time passes by quickly. IMG_2407.PNG

I created two of my own ice cream batches. One had a base of vanilla and the other had a base of chocolate. The vanilla was mixed-in with Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough, Oreos, and Chocolate Pretzels. The chocolate was mixed in with Hot Fudge, Marshmallows, Graham Crackers, and Chocolate Chips.

The best part of creating your own ice cream other than a new experience was that you can really taste the freshness in each batch!

IMG_2214I also created my own sundae with the pre-made flavors CoolMess offers and tried the Red Velvet Birthday Cake flavor with a scoop of the S’mores flavor. I topped my sundae with chunks of Edible Cookie Dough from Cookie Dō , Rainbow Sprinkles, Whipped Cream, and Hot Fudge served in a Funfetti Waffle Bowl!

So the next time you are in New York City, make sure to head over to CoolMess for the ultimate ice cream experience.IMG_2224.JPG

Seasonal Fatty Sundays On Sunday

Easter is exactly a week away and there are so many options other than my past posts about Easter chocolates. Fatty Sundays is known for their homemade chocolate covered pretzels.

Fatty Sundays was created by two sisters who wanted to combine their favorite sweet and salty treats: chocolate and pretzels. A combination that I personally think goes just like peanut butter and jelly. Most of the pretzels are rod-shaped and are covered in white, dark, or milk chocolate, and topped with sprinkles, nuts or any other topping you could think of.

Fatty Sundays sent me their Easter Pretzels just in time for the holiday to promote on @feedyoursoull. After just one bite, I automatically gave the company a 10/10 for their sweet and salty creation:

  5. BE CREATIVE!

The company offers many seasonal holiday treats such as Halloween color themed pretzels, Christmas color themed pretzels, Hanukkah color themed pretzels, Valentine’s Day color themed pretzels and more.

The pretzels also come in different flavors such as S’mores, Coffee, Red Velvet, and more. They are available to order for delivery nationwide.

The company has was recently featured on the Today Show.
